Goelst was started in 1990 in Acworth, Georgia by Mac Goelst. Initially the company made residential windows, and imported cabinet components from Germany, for assembly in the USA. After experiencing strong growth in the furniture/ casework part of the company, the company decided in 1992 to develop its own line of casework and to focus on that part of the business 100%. In 1995 the company moved to North Carolina

By the end of 1996 the need to expand arose, and struggling with the rapid expansion, the company decided to enter into a manufacturing partnership with a large manufacturing company in Illinois and to get out of the manufacturing end of the business. By the end of 1997 all manufacturing had been moved to Illinois, and stability in manufacturing ensued.

In 2001 Goelst entered into a partnership with UNICOR Federal Prison Industries, a partnership that contributed immensely to our ability to serve the government customer. Generally speaking the company has specialized in Healthcare product sales over the years, however it also enjoys a presence in the aforementioned Government market, as well as in the higher education market.
